Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a way of understanding why someone is behaving in a certain way — and what needs to change so they don’t have to keep doing it.
It’s not about controlling people. It’s about listening.
When someone can’t tell you they’re in pain, or overwhelmed, or that they need a break, behaviour becomes their way of communicating. PBS helps us figure out what that behaviour is telling us. Then we can start building something better.
Everything starts with an FBA. A practitioner comes to your home, your child's school, or wherever support happens, and spends time understanding what a behaviour is communicating. That means looking at what happens before it, what happens after it, and what need it might be meeting. Under the NDIS, an FBA is required before a comprehensive plan can be written.
We offer both at-centre and at-home therapy services. If you live within a convenient travel distance from Bundoora, you can come to our centre. Otherwise, we come to you.
This is the fuller piece of work, developed within six months. It covers proactive strategies, skill-building, environmental changes, and response strategies. It's NDIS-compliant and lodged with the Commission, and it's written in plain language for the people who will actually use it.
A plan only works if the people using it feel confident. Support workers, family members, and school staff get hands-on coaching, with strategies practised in real settings. If something isn't working, it gets changed.
If regulated restrictive practices are in use, they need to be authorised and reported correctly. From there, the work is planning their reduction and elimination as you build the skills to stay safe without them.
PBS isn't a one-off plan. Progress is reviewed at defined intervals and whenever circumstances change, with data collected to track whether quality of life is improving. Strategies adjust as things shift. Support continues for as long as it's useful.
Our practitioners are registered NDIS behaviour support practitioners. We work within the national Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework, which guides how we understand behaviour and how we support real change.
Most of our work happens where life happens. We come to your home, your child’s school, their day program, and anywhere else that matters. We spend time with your child and the people around them to work out what the behaviour is communicating and what needs to change.
We work alongside your family and support team, coaching them and checking in, because PBS only works when everyone feels confident in what they’re doing.
We currently have capacity for new clients with no waitlist.
